Antique Art Nouveau Brass & Glass Inkwell with Tray

Sourced in Sweden, this antique Art Nouveau inkwell features a sculpted floral repoussé lid set into a square glass reservoir with matching scalloped tray base. The brass or bronze construction reflects the flowing botanical forms and organic detail characteristic of the Art Nouveau period.

Produced during the height of the movement, circa 1890–1910, desk inkwells like this were used daily with dip pens in homes and offices before fountain pens became widespread. The tray protected writing surfaces from ink drips while creating a cohesive desk set.

The thick, beveled glass is in excellent condition with minor interior residue. The metal has age-related patina, verdigris, and interior oxidation consistent with use and age.

Beautiful repurposed as a candle holder with matches styled alongside on the tray, or used as a decorative paperweight on a desk or bookshelf.
