Antique French Low Terracotta Faisselle
Description
A beautifully aged antique French faisselle in warm terracotta with a rich reddish-brown glaze. Traditionally used in the production and draining of fresh cheeses, faisselles have become beloved decorative objects for their rustic character and centuries-old utility.
This low, rounded example features five hand-pierced drainage holes and a simple banded form with a beautifully timeworn character. Equally at home alongside other faisselles or layered into a collection of French pottery, it also makes a charming sponge dish or candle holder for a tealight or votive.
Dimensions: 1 5/8" tall x 3 1/2" diameter
Condition: Age-related wear and patina consistent with use. Chips to the rim and glaze are present, along with one stable hairline.
