Antique French Miniature Sailboat Pastel on Paper

An antique French miniature pastel depicting sailboats gliding across calm water at sunrise or sunset. Rendered in soft washes of peach, gold, lavender, and pale blue, the composition captures the luminous quality of light reflected across the water with an unmistakable Impressionist sensibility.

Despite its exceptionally small scale, the work displays remarkable depth and atmosphere through delicate layering and loose yet intentional strokes. The pastel appears to retain a small artist's monogram at lower right and remains housed in its original carved wood frame with hanging loop intact.
