Antique French "Moisson" Brown Transferware Plate by Faïencerie d'Onnaing
Description
A charming antique French brown transferware plate in the Moisson ("Harvest") pattern by Faïencerie d'Onnaing. The design features a beautiful arrangement of wildflowers, a straw hat, butterfly, and insect motifs framed by a delicate ivy border.
Founded in 1821 in northern France, the Faïencerie d'Onnaing was one of the country's most celebrated ceramic manufacturers, producing decorative earthenware through 1938. The crowned shield backstamp identifies the piece as a product of the faïencerie and dates it to the late 19th or early 20th century.
The warm brown transfer decoration layers beautifully with white ironstone, creamware, and other French and English transferware, while the charming pastoral motifs make this pattern especially collectible.
Circa 1900–1920.
Measurements: 9 1/2" diameter
Condition: Age-related patina and staining consistent with age and use.
