An original hand-colored lithograph depicting the Cour d'honneur (Court of Honor; pronounced "koor doh-NUR") of the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) in Paris from the celebrated 19th-century publication Paris dans sa Splendeur.

Published between 1861 and 1863, Paris dans sa Splendeur documented the city's most celebrated landmarks during the Second Empire through finely detailed lithographs by leading French artists and printmakers. Today, the series is appreciated for both its historical significance and its decorative appeal.

This architectural view captures the grand interior courtyard of Paris's Hôtel de Ville, showcasing its monumental Renaissance Revival architecture, sweeping double staircase, sculptural details, and elegantly dressed figures that bring the scene to life. The soft hand coloring in muted sage green, warm stone, dusty rose, and charcoal lends the print a refined, timeless palette that layers beautifully into both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Sourced in Denver, Colorado, from the estate of Merle Steven McClung (1943–2026), a Harvard graduate, Rhodes Scholar, and lifelong advocate for educational opportunity.

Condition: Some foxing present to the print. Age-related wear to the frame. Dust backing paper has some tearing.
