Description

Set of six antique transferware dinner plates by Moulin des Loups, St. Amand, France, circa 1910–1920. Decorated in the “Damier” pattern, each plate features a crisp navy blue checkerboard border against a soft ivory-white ground.

Founded in northern France in the early 18th century, St. Amand became one of the country’s best-known faience and ironstone producers, admired for its durable everyday wares and graphic transferware patterns. The Damier pattern reflects that tradition with its simple, striking design.

The transfer varies slightly from plate to plate, giving the set the subtle variation characteristic of early transferware. There are light cutlery marks from use, but overall the plates remain in very good antique condition. Some retain the full Moulin des Loups St. Amand backstamp, while others are marked only with the impressed maker’s stamp.

Sourced from France.

Measurements: Each plate 9" diameter
