Vintage French Woven Salon Scene Tapestry
Description
A vintage French woven tapestry depicting a salon scene inspired by 18th-century French interiors. At the center, a child pulls on a woman's hair as she reaches toward him, while the surrounding figures look on with expressions ranging from concern to apparent indifference. A small dog rests at her feet, adding a charming detail to the composition.
The richly decorated interior features carved wall paneling, a gallery wall of framed artwork, upholstered seating, patterned rugs, and an elaborate cherub-filled ceiling reminiscent of Renaissance frescoes. The longer you look, the more details emerge throughout the room and among its figures.
Woven with a tight, detailed construction, the tapestry has a soft palette of cream, taupe, blush, and muted brown tones that make it especially easy to incorporate into a variety of interiors. Its medium size works well above a console, fireplace, bed, or sofa. Grosgrain ribbon tabs along the top make it ready to hang, and the reverse is stamped "Made in France."
Dimensions: Approx. 57" tall × 37 1/2" wide
Condition: Very good vintage condition with gentle age-related wear. Tight weave with no major flaws observed. Grosgrain hanging tabs intact. Stamped "Made in France" on the reverse.
