Antique French Chestnut Glazed Tripod Faisselle Cheese Mold
Description
Original antique French faisselle cheese mold in a rich chestnut-brown glaze with hand-cut drainage perforations and tripod legs. Traditionally used in the cheese-making process for draining fresh cheeses, these small utilitarian forms have become especially beloved as decorative objects for shelf styling, holding garlic or shallots, or layering into a collection of French country pottery.
The warm glaze and sculptural silhouette give this piece a beautifully rustic provincial character.
One tripod leg has been repaired prior to purchase. Age-related wear and glaze variation throughout consistent with age and use.
Measures approximately 3 1/4" tall x 4 3/8" wide across the top.
