Antique French Longchamp Oyster Plate
Description
A French oyster plate by Longchamp featuring six shell-shaped wells surrounding a central sauce reservoir. Finished in shades of deep green and cream with a woven basketweave-style ground, the sculptural design brings wonderful texture and character to a table or display.
Originally designed for serving oysters alongside lemon, mignonette, or other accompaniments, these plates are equally beautiful displayed on open shelving, layered into a collection of French ceramics, or styled as decorative accents in the kitchen.
Produced in France circa 1880–1920, oyster plates became a staple of French seafood service and remain highly collectible today for their decorative forms and craftsmanship.
