Antique Greige Glazed French Footed Faisselle

An antique French faisselle in a soft grey/beige (or greige) glaze with a gently tapered form and three small feet. Traditionally used in the production and draining of fresh cheeses, faisselles are prized today for their sculptural forms and utilitarian history.

This example features hand-pierced drainage holes with delightfully irregular placement that highlights its handcrafted character, along with incised banding around the body and a debossed "1" mark. Beautifully styled alongside other faisselles or layered into a collection of French pottery, this versatile piece is equally lovely repurposed as a sponge dish or candle holder for a tealight or votive.

Dimensions: 3 7/8" tall x 4 1/4" wide

Condition: Age-related wear and patina consistent with use. Minor irregularities to the glaze and wear marks are present, along with very slight unevenness to the feet that is barely noticeable.
