Jean Couzon established his namesake French tableware brand in 1947, specializing in flatware and serving pieces, developing production in the French town of which is historically recognized as a major center for cutlery manufacturing. During the mid-20th century, Couzon became known for stainless steel tableware used in French homes, hotels, and restaurants.
Orfèvrerie, the French term for fine metalworking and silversmithing, often is used in connection with premium French tableware like Couzon's.
With an Art Deco influence, geometric shapes, stepped edges, and contrasting metals reference the decorative movement popular during the 1920s and 1930s.
Art Deco-inspired accessories returned to popularity during the 1970s and 1980s, particularly in polished stainless steel and mixed-metal finishes.
