Description
An antique single-handled terracotta cooking vessel, sourced in France and dating to circa 1890. Hand-formed earthenware with a yellow glazed interior and unglazed exterior, originally used for hearth cooking — soups, milk, sauces, and slow-simmered dishes prepared over open flame or nestled into embers.
The exterior retains dramatic carbon marking from direct flame exposure, along with surface variation and wear consistent with age and utilitarian use.
6 1/4" tall x 7" wide x 4 1/8" diameter
Sourced from France.
